Good ‘n Natural is a relatively new company that got its start back in 2004; however, you can find their products in grocery and warehouse stores, as well as online retailers. They specialize in making healthful nutrition bars that are loaded with gluten-free rolled oats, fruits, nuts and seeds among other things, in addition to being gluten-free and vegan friendly. This review will focus on 4 of their original flavors, with a review of their brand new line of flavors—Mixed Berry, Oatmeal Cinnamon Raisin and Vanilla Raspberry– coming soon in the near future. The first bar we wanted to take a look at was their classic Peanut Butter bar, and all we were hoping to find in this bar was a strong peanut butter flavor. Our hopes were high for our first bite, and we are happy to report that Good ‘n Natural has done a pretty decent job at putting their own spin on this classic ingredient. The bar simply tastes like peanut butter, which is a great thing for anyone looking to fill that craving in a healthier fashion than a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The texture of this bar was somewhat dense with some chew to it, but it definitely wasn’t like you had to choke it down or take a sip of water after each bite. As you can see from the picture below, the bar has a few chopped up peanuts and other seeds to give you a bit of a textural difference between each bite you take. Next, we tried their Lemon bar, and this wasn’t a flavor that most of our testers were looking forward to, mainly because our panel of judges is loaded with people that are big chocolate fans. The lemon bar was definitely refreshing and different, and would absolutely be a favorite among someone who has eaten countless amounts of nutrition bars that all taste the exact same after some point in time. This bar mainly consists of oats and almond butter though, which give it a nuttiness and richness that was quite a treat all in its own. The next flavor we tried out sounded like an easy winner, but would their Dark Chocolate bar be able to win our chocoholics over? In short, yes it did, mainly because it tasted like chocolate mixed with peanut butter. Dark chocolate, as we all know is much healthier for you than milk chocolate, which made us feel a whole lot better while chowing down on this nutrition bar. Lastly, we headed for their Cranberry Almond bar, which for the most part simply tastes like almond butter mixed with sweet cranberries from time-to-time. If you’re looking for a sweet and savory combination, stick with this flavor from Good ‘n Natural, we promise it won’t let you down. After trying out 4 of their original flavors, we simply can’t wait to see what they’ve done with the 3 new additions to their line of nutrition bars. Overall (4.5 out of 5).
The pros are that everything tastes great, the texture is somewhat soft and dense at the same time, it’s made with healthful ingredients, they’re a good source of fiber and protein, you can find them in grocery stores and online retailers, the bars are vegan friendly, and are free of dairy and gluten.
The cons are that they’re somewhat high in calories, but pretty similar when compared to other bars in the nutrition category.
