Protein Bakery Cookies Part 2

The Protein Bakery Cookies

We previously wrote a review about The Protein Bakery’s brownies and cookies, and we swore that we would write another review about their awesome protein packed desserts, here is that review. The Protein Bakery says: “We chose the name Protein Bakery, for a good (and healthy) reason. Muscle-building protein is a huge component in all our delicious cookies, brownies and blondies. Every delectable, guilt-free bite is high in dietary fiber, low in gluten, and delivers up to 5 times more protein than the average baked treat”.  They also say: “Our trans-fat free, preservative free, and wheat flour-free recipes are also nutritionally balanced. We combine natural ingredients like heart-healthy rolled oats, light brown sugar, and the finest chocolate”. To learn more about The Protein Bakery, be sure and head to their web-site for more information.

This review is going to focus on 5 different and delectable flavors that The Protein Bakery offers: Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter White Chip, and Oatmeal Cranberry.  The first cookie we started our review with was their Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookie, which is aptly given that name because it’s made with a cocoa base and loaded with chocolate chips.  If you’re a chocolate fan, then this is the cookie for you, because it has an awesome chocolate base and a few chocolate chips scattered throughout.  Texturally, the cookie is soft with a bit of a crunch from the chocolate chips.  We weren’t really expecting the texture to be as good as it was, simply because we were imaging that it would be dry and hard from all of the added protein.  After that, we tried their Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookie out, which was pretty much everything we were hoping it would be.  The classic peanut butter and chocolate combination never ceases to fail, simply because it’s one of the best duos around.  Next, we took a turn for the more classic cookie, and bit into their Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie.  Nostalgia reigns supreme in this cookie, because you gets the strong presence of the oatmeal that goes perfect with the nice addition of chocolate chips.  Our next cookie was the Peanut Butter White Chocolate Chip, and this cookie was pretty much the same as the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, with the slight difference that this one was a bit sweeter.  Perhaps the reason it’s sweeter is simply because of the white chocolate chips, but we thought we would just mention as a side note for anyone that wants a slightly sweeter cookie.  Lastly, we tried out their Oatmeal Cranberry cookie, and this was another great flavor from The Protein Bakery for one reason–simplicity.  The previous oatmeal chocolate chip cookie was simple, traditional and tasty; while this one is simple, tasty, and a bit nostalgic.  Our testers loved the oatmeal and cranberry combination simply because they work well together, but it was also a nice change of pace from their richer and sweeter cookie flavors.  Overall (4.5 out of 5).

The pros are that the cookies taste awesome, the texture of the cookies is soft, you can buy them directly from their online store, they have a ton of different products and varieties to choose from, and they have a decent amount of protein in them.

The cons are that they make you think they’re healthier than they really are, they have some fat and sugar in them, and you have to wait a couple of days for your awesome cookies or brownies to arrive.

Protein Bakery Mini Cookies

Protein BakeryWe previously wrote a review about The Protein Bakery’s brownies, and we promised that we would write another review about them, with the exception that this one would focus on their protein cookies. We’re going to break up our review of The Protein Bakery into a couple different articles, allowing us to focus on their brownies and cookies without getting too distracted by either one. They also say: “Our trans-fat free, preservative free, and wheat flour-free recipes are also nutritionally balanced. We combine natural ingredients like heart-healthy rolled oats, light brown sugar, and the finest chocolate”. To learn more about The Protein Bakery, be sure and head to their web-site for more information on their line of products.

OK, so the first cookie we tried out from The Protein Bakery was their Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookie, which as you can guess from its name, is loaded with chocolaty goodness.  The cookie is made with a decent amount of cocoa powder in addition to the liberal amount of chocolate chips that are scattered throughout the cookie, making it quite an indulgence to say the least.  Texturally, it isn’t hard or tough like you think it would be, it’s actually soft and chewy as if it came straight from the oven.   Moving on to our next protein packed treat, we headed for their Peanut Butter White Chocolate Chip cookie.  This cookie was heavy on both peanut butter and white chocolate chips, giving it a somewhat sweeter and bolder flavor than we expected.  If you love peanut butter then we think you’ll be a fan of this cookie, simply because peanut butter is the main flavor.  The white chocolate chips add a touch of sweetness and texture to this cookie, both of which we think you’ll really enjoy.  Continuing with our peanut butter trend, we thought we would try out their Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookie.  All we were hoping for with this flavor was strong notes of both peanut butter and chocolate, simply because it’s a great flavor combination–as everyone is already fully aware of.  This cookie delivers on both peanut butter and chocolate chips; however, it wasn’t like biting into a Reese’s PB Cup or anything.  Lastly, we took a look at one of the safer flavors they have to offer, but their Oatmeal Cranberry cookie is nothing to complain about.  This cookie has a more traditional flavor to it, but if you’re looking for a cookie that’s heavy on oats and cranberries, this cookie is all you’d ever want.  Our testers loved every cookie that had peanut butter or chocolate in it, so they would tell you to try those out; however, everything we’ve reviewed for The Protein Bakery has been pretty tasty overall.  Overall (4 out of 5).

The pros are that the cookies have a decent amount of protein in them, the texture is soft and chewy, the cookies taste like their namesake, you can buy them online, and it’s a safer way to have your cake and eat it too.

The cons are that you might eat more of these cookies than you normally would, simply because you think they’re much healthier for you, and they have a decent amount of sugar in them.

The Protein Bakery Brownies

The Protein Bakery BrowniesWe stumbled across a little business called The Protein Bakery, and we think Food Review 101 exists for the simple reason of bringing you companies like this that you’ve never heard of before.

This review is going to be all about their Peanut Butter Blondie, Wicked Mint and Peanut Butter bar, simply because we thought that was a pretty decent way to start talking about The Protein Bakery.  The first brownie we tried out was aptly titled, Wicked Mint.  They say it has “generous portions of peppermint oil, whey protein and green mint chocolate chips make a serious trio that leaves you perfectly feeling wicked. Enjoy snacking on pure magic”, and we couldn’t agree with them more.  These brownies are quite massive though, coming in at three inches long and about an inch tall, which could give a few of you more than you bargained for.  We would like to say that these brownies are pure chocolate heaven, with the mint oil and mint chocolate chips giving this brownie the “wicked mint” aspect that we were looking for.  Texturally, you would think it would be tough because of the added protein, but this brownie is just as tender as other brownies we’ve reviewed that didn’t have the addition of this healthful ingredient.  Next, we tried out their Peanut Butter brownie, and all we were hoping for with this flavor was a strong combination of two classic flavors.  Not one flavor overpowers the other in this brownie, and that’s pretty much all we were hoping to find.  The chocolate and peanut butter both come out equally as strong, giving this brownie a balanced flavor that we think you’d really enjoy.  Lastly, we tried one of the products from their blondies collection, which isn’t actually even a brownie, but it’s still pretty tasty nonetheless.  Their Peanut Butter Blondie simply tastes like peanut butter mixed with a hint of vanilla, and we don’t think we can really fault them for anything here.  The blondie tastes fantastic, and would make a perfect treat for anyone who loves peanut butter.  Overall (4 out of 5).

The pros are that they have a ton of different products and flavors to choose from, they’ll ship directly to your doorstep, they’re loaded with protein, they taste great, they’re low in carbohydrates, the texture is good, and it allows you to have what you love without going overboard.

The cons are that they have a decent amount of calories and fat in them, and it’s easy to overdo it with these tasty brownies.
